Economic training in the curriculum of the Medicine major in Cuba (Review).

Abstract

The objective of the article was to characterize particular features of the process of economic training in the medicine major, based on the analysis of the E version of its curriculum. It was demonstrated the need to pay attention to this process, as a premise to achieve a more integrated and relevant performance of future physicians, according to social demands. To develop the work, the methods of analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction were used. They allowed the critical analysis and the taking of theoretical positions to determine potentials and insufficiencies in relation to this training process. Among the latter, were identified the lack of intentionality and gradualness regarding economic training in the curriculum of future physicians, insufficient identification of professional problems that are to be cared, which leads to a poor treatment of the curricular management of disciplines and subjects to provide this training. In the same way, this curriculum needs to be articulated with the other stages of the continual education system of higher education, that is, preparation for employment and postgraduate training, so it is necessary to identify possible objectives and contents related to economic training that should be included in them.
