Abstract

This paper addresses the results of an investigation on the levels of knowledge about environmental education of the social actors of the community of Bizarrón in favor of local development, taking as a reference the pressing environmental problems in the place that compromise health of those who live in the community and the workers of the centers located there. It is a mixed investigation with a qualitative predominance. Empirical methods such as observation, survey, interview, life stories and documentary analysis were used. In addition, we worked with theoretical methods such as historical-logical, analysis and synthesis and induction-deduction. In addition, the mathematical-statistical method was used, all on the basis of the Participatory Action Research methodology, based on the need for the involvement of the population and all the actors who in one way or another have some degree of involvement in the environment. . Participation workshops were held where, through the SWOT analysis, the needs for the acquisition of knowledge, skills and practices of the actors for decision-making were obtained as a result, in order to solve the problems of the environment. The objective of the research was to design an environmental education strategy for local development with an emphasis on environmental risk and human health in the community of Bizarrón. It was concluded that in order to achieve transformations in the local order it is necessary to carry out actions and proposals that sensitize and articulate the population in search of new perspectives on the construction of sustainable local development.
