Keywords:
difficulties; learning; self-esteem; emotional statesAbstract
This article offers an overview of learning difficulties and their influence on children's emotional states. It starts from the consideration that children with learning difficulties are more prone to have low self-esteem and internal control, which has impact on the success of their academic tasks. The purpose of this paper is to expose conceptual elements on self-esteem and learning difficulties, the relationship between both and their importance for the integral development of the personality of schoolchildren. Theoretical methods are integrated to compile information from specialized literature. The result contributes to improve the quality of the teaching-learning process in Special Education and, in general, in the whole educational context, since it encourages reflection about this problem and favors the search for effective strategies to respond to the needs that, in a transitory or permanent way, some students present.
