Evaluation of compliance with the avian influenza control program in Granma (Original)

Avian influenza is an infectious disease produced by viral agents classified as Orthomyxovirus and constitutes a serious problem due to its sanitary and economic implications. The objective of this article is to evaluate the fulfillment of the control program against this pathology in Granma. Documentary analysis was applied to the statistical records of the Department of Animal Health of the Ministry of Agriculture of Granma province of the animal population by species and productive sector; the evaluation of biosecurity in the state sector (Resolution 76/2015); the compliance with the disaster plans, of the program of fight and control against this noxa, according to Directive 1 of the National Defense Council. It was also checked the sampling in sentinel points during the period 2018, of the municipal and provincial directions of the Department of Animal Health and the Organisms of the Central Administration of the State, related to animal health and production. The statistical processing of the data was carried out using Excel and Access programs of Microsoft Office 2013. Once the program has been evaluated, a short, medium and long term action plan is proposed to reduce the gaps that make the pathology possible. In general, the Avian Influenza prevention and control program is being complied with; however, access to the necessary supplies to perform some tests is not always possible. It is concluded that there are gaps that could make possible the penetration of this noxa in the province of Granma.
