Strengthening of agricultural development management in Guisa from the Municipal University Center (Original)

Abstract

Due to the urgency of adopting new ways of thinking, organizing, acting and mobilizing productive potentials, the context of agricultural innovation was analyzed in Guisa municipality, Granma province, whose production base is fundamentally agricultural, with the aim of contributing to local agricultural development from the Municipal University Center through an action plan that suppose a dialogue between the academy and the peasant knowledge. The analysis of the context showed a municipality with a very low municipal development index and in correspondence, an insecure agricultural development scenario, conditioned by the disarticulation of actors and the limited scope of its financing management, territorial policies for development, and of products, with nuances of asymmetries and few spaces for training and education. The potentials whose strategic use will contribute to local agricultural development were identified, which constitute the basis for the selection of strategic lines of work to contribute to local agricultural development from the Municipal University Center. The implementation of a contextualized action plan has allowed solid steps in the consolidation of a management process for development. The dialogue between scientific knowledge and peasant knowledge facilitates local agricultural and nourishing development, through the strategic conception of sustainable development on agro-ecological basis and a social equity approach.
