A System of Educational Games to Facilitate Appreciation of Works of Art in Elementary School Students (Original)

Abstract

Plastic Arts encompass a wide range of visual modes that students use to express themselves, communicate, mediate their thinking, and engage in aesthetic exploration and inquiry. The pedagogical value of Visual Arts Education in the entire development of students is related to the knowledge it provides, the skills and abilities it helps develop, as well as the ability to appreciate, a key component for developing a high level of sensitivity. In this sense, the article presented here, based on the recognized problem of insufficient attention given to the appreciation of works of art in primary school students, aims to design a system of educational games to foster the appreciation of works of art through the visual language of color for fourth-grade students in the subject Plastic Arts Education in Primary School. The research process employed theoretical methods such as Analysis-synthesis, Induction-deduction, and Dialectical hermeneutics; and empirical methods included interviews, surveys, observations, and pedagogical testing. Likewise, statistical methods such as descriptive and inferential statistics were employed. The results obtained with the application of the Educational Game System in pedagogical practice demonstrate its effectiveness and the fulfillment of the proposed objective.
