Oral Expression in English: a methodology for its development in the specialty Gastronomic Services (Original)

Abstract

This article deals with a solution to the insufficiencies in the teaching-learning process of the subject English in the Gastronomic Services specialty, within Technical and Professional Education, in terms of the students' oral communicative performance in English in the provision of gastronomic service to foreign customers. It contains a methodology for the development of speaking skills in English in the mentioned specialty, as established by the Cuban Model of Technical and Professional Education, regarding the polytechnic school-labor entity, which is the basis for the training of middle-level professionals at present. The research assumed a combined approach of descriptive character, with the use of theoretical, empirical and statistical methods. The results corroborated the development of oral expression by the students and their consequent preparation for the communicative performance in English in the provision of gastronomic service to foreign customers. The pedagogical experiment demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposal applied.
