The limitations that, in the formative order, university teachers have while performing the educational guidance to elder adults, as a growing population group, constitutes guidelines for the development of this research. This article presents a theoretical contribution in the field of Educational Sciences to favor the performance of this professional from the process of professional improvement. The objective of this article is to socialize a conceptual theoretical system of professional development of university teachers to carry out the educational guidance of elder adults. The methodology used is a combined approach with predominance of the qualitative one. Based on Materialistic Dialectics, there are employed methods and techniques of scientific research of theoretical, empirical and mathematical-statistical nature. The elaboration and introduction to educational practice at the Municipal University Center of Songo La Maya, belonging to Oriente University in Santiago de Cuba, permitted a theoretical approach to the reconceptualization of the development of the educational orientation of the university teacher by expanding its scope to elder adults. Guided by the principle of communicative interdisciplinarity, functional relationships are established between the subsystems that were formed and brought about significant changes in the professional performance of the teachers of that institution.
