Systematization of the project "Sustainable meat production for local development"

The systematization of the project "Sustainable meat production for local development", implemented in the Romárico Cordero Garcés Credit and Services Cooperative in the municipality of Bayamo, was a reflective, analytical and interpretative process based on the notion of reality held by those involved in the project in order to understand the experience of which they were part and whose practice they appropriated in a critical manner. In addition to strengthening it, the project also made it possible to communicate their learning to other collectives involved in similar projects. The objective of this article is to present the results of the systematization, in the Cooperative of Credits and Services Romárico Cordero Garcés of Bayamo municipality, of the project "Sustainable meat production for local development" in the period 2022. Three key moments were identified: the initial situation, the intervention process and the current situation, which corresponded to an intermediate stage of implementation. It was corroborated that this project has been consolidated by efficiently using and exploiting endogenous resources; by encouraging the actors linked to the production, transformation and commercialization of food in a sustainable way; by giving access to the population of the Popular Council to sufficient, diverse, nutritious and healthy food; by contributing to food sovereignty; as well as by complying with social responsibility, either with its employees, the community and the environment.
