Abstract

Implementing positive psychology programs in universities to promote mental health and integral development of students is a need and a challenge for teachers and students. This article evaluates the effectiveness of interventions based on positive psychology and oriented to resilience and well-being of university students in Quevedo, Ecuador. A quasiexperimental design was used with a control group and an experimental group; 300 students were assessed using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale and the Subjective Well-Being Questionnaire. Interventions included gratitude exercises, identification and use of personal strengths, as well as mindfulness sessions for eight weeks. Results showed significant improvements in resilience and well-being in the experimental group, confirming the initial hypothesis. These findings are consistent with previous studies. The theoretical and practical contributions of this study suggest that universities should consider including positive psychology programs in their student support services to foster a healthier and more productive academic environment.
