Abstract

The research was carried out at the Antonio Maceo Cooperative Basic Production Unit, located in Veguitas, Yara municipality, Granma province. The objective was to evaluate the energy balance for the cabbage crop (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.), taking into account the energy consumption of direct and indirect use, the input energy of the process (Input) and the output energy of the crop (Output). The result was a direct energy consumption of 107 152.68 MJ ha-1; the indirect energy consumption was 5 832.64 MJ ha-1, 51% in relation to the use of fertilizers. The total input energy (Input) was 112 985.32 MJ ha-1and the input energy (Input) as a function of the agricultural yield of the crop was 748.25 MJ t-1; while the output energy (Output) took a value of 181 200 MJ ha-1, for a Ratio of 1.60 and a NER of 0.6. Direct operating costs were 1,788.76CUP ha-1.
