Abstract

The investigation was developed in the Unit of Base Protected Cultivations and Semiprotegidos belonging to the Agricultural Company "Paquito Rosales Benítez" of Veguita, municipality Yara, county Granma. The objective of the work was to carry out the energy balance for the cucumber cultivation (Cucumis sativus L.) in Fluvisol, in the period understood between january and march of 2018. The energy of direct use assumed a quantity of 3 626,7 MJ ha-1, with 91,8 % associated to the use of the human force, representing 54,5 % the activities related with the cultural attentions; as well as that of indirect use had a behavior of 9 085,4 MJ ha-1, associating the 83,4; 14,8 and 16,9 % of the total to the use of fertilizers, fungicides and insecticides respectively. The ratio threw a value of 2,6 and an energy efficiency (NER) of 1,6 classified of good. The cultivation was able to reach a volumen of production of 2,4 t with an entrance of 7 656 CUP and a gain of 5 464,8 CUP.
