Abstract

This study aimed to characterize the body proportions and somatotype of students enrolled in the Bachelor's Degree Program in Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports at the University of Atlántico. Using a quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional design, 33 students were evaluated through standardized anthropometric techniques (ISAK). Basic measurements, diameters, perimeters, skinfolds, somatotype components, and somatotype coordinates were analyzed. Results showed an average mesoendomorphic somatotype (endomorphy: 2.92; mesomorphy: 3.16; ectomorphy: 2.52), indicating a predominance of muscle mass and robust structure, along with moderate adipose tissue levels. Morphological heterogeneity was observed across several variables, highlighting the need to adapt pedagogical strategies to the students' physical characteristics. These findings provide a reference profile for curriculum planning, sports guidance, and institutional wellness policies within the training of future professionals in physical education and sports.
