Environmental education in the initial training of the Special Education teacher (Original)

At present, protection of the environment is a necessity in every sense due to the environmental problems the world is facing. Environmental education appears as a response to the environmental crisis, with the support of the Educational Sciences, which deal with the formative process of man and his development, how he prepares himself throughout his life to interact with the environment. The objective of this work is to analyze the process of environmental education in the Special Education Major at Pinar del Río University. The variable under study was operationalized, the dimensions determined were environmental knowledge, environmental behavior and their respective indicators. In the diagnostic study, a combined approach was used, with a system of theoretical, empirical and statistical-mathematical educational research methods. Among these methods stand out the historical-logical, analysis and synthesis, scientific observation, documentary analysis, interviews and pedagogical test. As a result, there are revealed shortcomings in the development of environmental education in the initial training of the Special Education teacher and the need to structure an environmental education from a holistic conception that forms and informs about the educational process that deals with the relationship of human beings with their environment and with themselves, as well as the consequences of this relationship.
