Abstract

Rural emigration is a phenomenon that is neither of our days, nor of a geographical area in particular. The theory points out that migration is mainly produced by employment and income, and due to this, internal migration also arises and is based on the displacement of less developed to more developed and urbanized ones. The main objective of this work was to determine the characteristics of people who have left the northern part of the province of Los Ríos (cantons: Buena Fe, Mocache, Quevedo, Quinsaloma and Valencia). In order to reach the objective of this study, the empirical research method was used, based on the surveys carried out on people older than 25, who live in households whose members have emigrated internally or abroad, so that a Probabilistic sampling and based on INEC data. Among the results, it was found that the male children are the ones that emigrate the most, their ages are between 15 and 42 years old and they have a secondary school level, the activity they played in the field was day laborer and they went out looking for work, among others Results. It was concluded that the majority are young people who leave mainly for work both inside and outside, do it also, for education and to improve the quality of life.
