Influence of remittances from emigrants on the living conditions of Ecuadorian families (Original).

Various investigations and publications have generated remittances that conceive them as the greatest benefit that transnational migration provides. Hence, we set ourselves the following objective: to evaluate the effect of sending remittances from migration on the conditions of rural households in the northern area of the province of Los Ríos, Ecuador. The research was carried out in areas considered rural in the northern area of the province of Los Ríos, Ecuador, a non-experimental study was carried out with quantitative research using the empirical research method that is based on observation through surveys. The results showed that the majority, 219 people, emigrated to national destinations (69%), while 31% have had the incentive to emigrate abroad. Spain with 52% and Italy with 26.5% represent the preferred destinations for migration. From the rural areas of Los Rios, where shipments made through bank transfers or by transnational companies that are dedicated to this business from abroad stand out, 180 people who do so represent 76.9%; Regarding the amount of money, 38 (17.8%) received $1,200, then it can be seen that 14 (6.54%) received $1,000 annually. It is concluded that migrant remittances are greater for those who are abroad and therefore their families, in addition to spending on food and medicine, pay debts and repairs in their homes. This reflects a perception of greater progress, however, like the others, the main reason for having improved materially and immaterially has been the economic situation of the country.
