Abstract

The article contains an analysis of the main environmental problems associated with business and community activity in the mountainous municipality of Buey Arriba, Granma Province; as well as a proposal of how the university can contribute to the conformation of a sustainable economic vision for development, at this level, favored by integration: University, Government and community. The purpose of the research was to contribute to the formation of a governmental, business and community vision on the environment in the mountainous municipality of Buey Arriba, which would integrate the analysis, interpretation and transformation of the current status of environmental protection in said territory. In the investigative process, the main methods were used: observation, documentary review, interview, and survey and data triangulation. The results obtained with the research indicated changes in attitude, aptitude and behavior in this territory in relation to the need for environmental protection, the management of projects for local development with a sustainable approach, as well as the more rational use of firewood as energy in domestic and business activities.
