Professionalization of the guidance function of the tutor in Higher Education. (Original)

Abstract

The present investigation was developed in the career of Agronomic Engineering of the University of Camagüey. The new socio-economic and cultural context, imposes new challenges to the universities, among these, to become committed institutions with the society and with an integral formation of its students. In order to achieve these goals in Higher Education, it is necessary to have competent professors-tutors to correct, to evaluate and to guide in a comprehensive way. Tutors are often of different profiles to that of the formation of their tutee, which brings with it an inadequate academic orientation, social, personal, investigative and labor. Based on this assessment, the research corroborates theoretical and practical insufficiencies related to the guidance performance of the university professor who exercises the tutorial function. The present has as objective to characterize the preparation of the tutors in Higher Education. A population composed by 35 tutors from the Agricultural Engineering degree and 48 tutees were considered. 15 tutors and 16 tutees were intentionally selected as sample. The results of the study demonstrated the necessity of the training for the orientation function in tutors of Higher Education.
