This article analyzed the impacts and challenges of the university-business cooperation model in the local development of Majibacoa, highlighting its role as an engine of transformation in the university, business, and social spheres. To this end, theoretical methods such as analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction were applied, along with empirical methods such as interviews and surveys. These methods allowed for an examination of the reciprocity between the Municipal University Center and local businesses, emphasizing the role of governments as regulators of this activity. The study revealed the foundations for achieving an effective linkage, identifying the driving forces behind this relationship and the fundamental results it generates in both industry and education. Contributions to the teaching-educational process, scientific research, and I+D mechanisms in companies were highlighted, as well as its contribution to social development. Furthermore, new trends that position Higher Education institutions, including the Municipal University Center, as key links in the production chain were recognized.
Through a critical approach, the opportunities and challenges faced by this model in Majibacoa were examined, proposing actions to strengthen its application and maximize its impact on local development. The research concluded that university-business cooperation is an essential tool for fostering innovation, competitiveness, and social well-being in local contexts.
