Abstract

Improving the teaching-learning process of the subject History of Cuba is a necessity to achieve the acquisition of knowledge, habits, skills, abilities, capacities and values. This has been a fundamental objective in the transformations carried out in the National Education System, so that the historical content is applied by the student in social practice. Such aspiration has not always materialized in the referred subject, in which, in spite of the fact that the use of adequate teaching methods and means is required, as well as the students' protagonism in the independent search for the historical content, insufficiencies are still recognized in the pre-university teaching-learning process, which has limited the appropriation and application of the historical content in the social practice. The objective of the article consisted, then, in proposing a system of activities that favors the appropriation, in the students, of the historical content in social practice. Theoretical, empirical and statistical research methods were applied for this purpose, which made it possible to verify the inadequacies in the process and to assess the feasibility, relevance and effectiveness of the proposed activities. The results obtained during the application at the Antonio Maceo Grajales Pre-university Institute, in the municipality of Cauto Cristo, allowed affirming that it contributed to solve the inadequacies that limited the appropriation and application of the historical content by students in social practice.
