Compendium of supplementary programs for the subject of Geography in Basic Secondary Education (Review)

The teaching-learning process of Geography requires the strengthening of geographic knowledge of objects, processes and physical and economic phenomena, as well as the development of skills. The research responds to the need to solve the didactic insufficiencies in the teaching-learning process of the subject Geography, which limit the students' learning; its purpose is to exploit the educational potentialities of the complementary programs for the treatment of geographic contents. The objective is the elaboration of a system of complementary programs for the learning of geographic contents through the creation of teaching means, in the subject Geography of Cuba. The study is developed on the basis of the dialectical-materialist method and the analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, systemic-structural-functional and documentary review methods are assumed. It is also based on the transformations in Basic Secondary Education as part of the III process of improvement of the National Education System and as a premise, the needs and potentialities of the students, as well as the achievement of personality development and integral formation. The fundamental contribution consists of the compilation of complementary programs for the treatment of geographic contents in the teaching-learning process of the Geography subject.
