Numerical analysis of the cage-type puddling wheel, manufactured at the Talleres Agropecuarios Granma Company (Original)

One of the agricultural tasks carried out in rice cultivation is puddling, which is done with special wheels attached to tractors. At the Fernando Echenique Agroindustrial Grain Company, some of these wheels are presenting permanent deformation problems in the spokes. The purpose of this article is to carry out a numerical analysis to determine the stress state and, with this, to evaluate what is happening from the structural point of view, in the forged wheels under study. For this purpose, the loads to which they are subjected, as well as the constructive aspects, were taken into account. From a numerical simulation, the stress state of the wheel was determined, and it was observed that the maximum values of von Mises stresses did not exceed the creep limit, giving a safety factor of 2.11. In addition, buckling calculations were performed and results were obtained showing that there is no loss of stability in the wheel.
