Oral reading, a way of developing vocabulary and intellect in Primary School students (Review)

The teaching of reading today requires theoretical contents and reflective readers who take an active position before the text, who are stimulated, excited, become involved; only then will they make decisions before reading it and build their own meanings from the reception of the message and the knowledge they have of the subject; so the child as he reads must evolve, to grow together with the text and oral reading is one of the ways to achieve its intellectual development. However, the students of the Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education show insufficiencies to read the texts expressively, then store them in semantic memory and reconstruct their ideas, their criteria to reach reading comprehension. This article aims to offer some criteria on oral reading and its influence on the development of the vocabulary and intellect of the primary school student. The dialectical materialist method is used as a universal method of science. Theoretical and empirical methods were also used. The main results are aimed at developing reading skills, decoding the written language and determining the meaning of the ideas present in the text to make a correct oral reading.
