Proposal of curtain of containment of the ammonia fumes (NH3) around the refrigerator I Camilo Cienfuegos (Original)

Abstract

In the present work a barrier of containment of the ammonia emanations and the affectations caused to the quality of the air is proposed from the monitoring of the emanations of refrigerant substance, ammonia (NH₃) that cause affectations to the environment and its components, the security of exploitation and maintenance, in the environment of the Refrigerator I located in the northern area of Bayamo. Determined the predominant direction of the winds, the moments, the concentrations of ammonia in the air and identification of the vulnerable points during the exploitation; taking the measures to counteract these affectations. The radius of sanitary protection according to this type of installation and the conditions of direction and speed of the winds is of 265 m, which is not fulfilled, reason why the population has occupied the zone in the most vulnerable direction, the perimeter is inferior at 50 m. The concentration of ammonia in the southwest air exceeds the established norms with values of 0.032 and 0.045 mg/m³ during daytime and night time respectively, at a depth greater than 50 m in correspondence with the radius of sanitary protection and reaches its highest values at night.
