Abstract

In the work, there are presented the results obtained in the Project of Local Development, carried out by the Faculty of Computer, Natural and Exact Sciences of the University of Granma in the years 2015 and 2016. It was designed on the bases of the sociocritical approach and the methodology of participating research-action. The theoretical and methodological foundations of management assumed for the local development was the integration of the essential university processes: formation-research -extension, which was put into practice through the training actions of teachers, students and leaders of the community "El Palmar" and "Barrio Juvenil" of Manzanillo municipality. The main transformations obtained with the actions of community intervention were: to improve life conditions of the communities with more and better systems of basic services; to maximize the use of local, human, natural, materials and financial resources; to reinforce the institutionality, improving the use and amplification of existent structures, both the  government  and the state, and the development of the community self-management and the integrated community work, in the solution of social, economic, environmental, cultural and educational problems.
