Child labor and its impact on children's academic performance (Original)

The present work arises as a response to a problem that is becoming more and more visible in the Ecuadorian educational system and in particular in the Juan León Mera Educational Unit, where the economic and social crisis affects children's homes; this cause forces them to work prematurely; to a large extent this is a problem that directly affects dysfunctional and low-school homes. The objective of the research is to determine the incidence of child labor on the academic performance of third-year students of Middle Basic Education in the aforementioned Educational Unit. Observations, interviews and surveys were used for data collection. The results obtained are highly important in order to establish the criteria for developing a system of psycho-pedagogical strategies, aimed at increasing the teaching performance of students.
