Abstract

The work was carried out in the Park of Fairs Granma located in Bayamo, Granma, during the month of February 2018, with the objective of evaluating the hematological indicators in transporting horses. It was obtained samples of blood (5 mL) during the morning (between 8:00 and 10:00 hours) of 10 mestizo seemingly healthy horses, with approximately 6 years old. The samples were deposited in test tubes with anticoagulant EDTA, and then were remitted to the laboratory for the hemoglobin determination, hematocrit, total count of white globules and differential diagnosis for the neutrophil, basophil, eosinophil and monocyte counts. 70% of the equine present hemoglobin values between 79 and 100 g/L of blood and those with hematocrit between 0,22 and 0,33 L/L in 60% of the cases with average of 98,9 g/L and 0,31 L/L respectively. A diet is proposed for equines where protein and energy requirements are met.
