IDENTIFICATION OF VULNERABILITY IN THE CAMPUS II OF THE GRANMA UNIVERSITY (Original)
Keywords:
vulnerability; disaster; riskAbstract
The research was developed in Campus II of the University of Granma, with the objective of identification of principal vulnerability. In the same one was realized a diagnosis of the vulnerabilities to which the Campus II is exposed through a Workshop in which 14 experts participated. A group work was developed to reduce the list and like closure of the diagnosis, the Vester matrix was used. Then, the vulnerabilities were calculated that define the steps for the accomplishment of the technical recommendations, according to the phases to mitigate the possible damages. All data were mounted in Geographic information System (GIS) from which the vulnerability maps were obtained. Campus II presents a low structural vulnerability for floods due to heavy rains, although there are structures with medium and high vulnerability due to their deterioration. In the case of non-structural, functional, ecological and economic vulnerabilities are low, and social vulnerability is medium, due to the low perception of the risk of the exposed population
