Abstract

Cognitive stimulation is the set of means, techniques and activities with a scientific basis, applied in a systematic and sequential, which is used in children from birth to six years or school age in order to develop their physical capabilities to the maximum, psychic and superior, avoid unwanted states in development and help the family. It is confirmed that cognitive stimulation is necessary from an early age and during the stages of development of the human being. The objective of this research work is to reflect on some theoretical - methodological considerations about the basic cognitive processes of attention and perception, intellectual disability, physical school recreation and cognitive stimulation. This article will serve as a reference material for students in training, teachers and specialists to delve into some conceptualizations, characteristics and functions of the processes involved in the learning of students with intellectual disabilities. The theoretical foundations proposed may be applied through psycho-pedagogical interventions to stimulate cognitive development, since the difficulties that students have in the execution of educational tasks that intervene in learning are remarkable, given the characteristics of their diagnosis.
