Phsical Therapetic Exercises for the treatment of orthopedic deformities of falt feet and escoliosis in school chlidren with mental severe delay(Original)

Abstract

The present article refers the elaboration of Physical Therapeutic Exercise Program to correct and compensate the orthopedic deformities of flat feet and escoliosis in school children with mental severe delay, in correspondence with its educational needs and postures. The population was constituted by 23 students diagnosed with mental severe delay of third and fifth grade, with an age between seven and twelve years from the Alberto Fernández Monte de Oca special school, Santiago de Cuba. It was selected in an intentional way a sample of 13 students that present orthopedic deformities of flat feet and escoliosis; six from feminine gender and seven from masculine one which represents the population's 54%. Theoretical and empiric methods were used that allowed to base and to elaborate the program, as well as to evaluate the main orthopedic deformities that the students present with mental severe delay, the current situation of the therapeutic treatment that is carried out by means of Physical Adapted Education classes and the effectiveness of the proposal application. The results obtained by means of their practical application facilitated a bigger correction and/or compensation of the orthopedic deformities and present posturales in this school children which will favor to a better preparation for the mature and independent life.
