Abstract

Today, we live in confusing times that demand the search for pedagogical alternatives to reorient, transform and educate an integral, competent professional, with broad scientific preparation, ethical and humanistic training, with a behavior based on values and high social commitment. Enormous challenges are faced in order to raise the standard of living, education and culture. The role of national and cultural identity and the challenges that culture must assume in this scenario are essential. It is increasingly necessary to continue working on the orientation and formation of values in the new generations, as well as to achieve a greater link between communication and education strategies. As a process of collective construction in constant transformation, the apprehension of the meaning of cultural identity allows the development of the potentials of the subject in the search for personal satisfaction and at the level of society, the responsibility and collective participation of its members as a guarantor of continuity, transformation and sustainability. The communities of Majibacoa are the focus of attention in this study. They face an integration process that is representative of a social problem, reflecting the current context in which the processes inherent to it are developed. The present work gathers actions to strengthen the identity values of the society in the territory departing from the study of its economic and social history.
