Abstract

The objective of the research was to diagnose the perception of insecurity of students and teachers and its impact on the cognitive and affective processes of students. This study is particularly relevant in the context of the increase in violence in Ecuadorian cities, as well as its influence on the educational sphere. A non-experimental quantitative approach was used. The research is exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional. A total of 291 students and 42 teachers from the San Francisco de Quito Educational Unit were surveyed to identify correlations between perceived insecurity and school performance. The results reflected that 60% of students feel unmotivated to attend classes due to insecurity, which has a negative impact on their ability to concentrate memory and learn. The finding of this study underscores the need to implement preventive strategies, with emotional support within educational institutions.
