Migration has been a practice that human beings, from the beginning of their life in a community, have carried out to ensure their existence, through the search for food and means that allow them to survive. Hence, we set ourselves the following objective: to evaluate the effect of migration on the socio-economic conditions of the northern area of the province of Los Ríos, Ecuador. The research was carried out in areas considered rural in the northern area of the province of Los Ríos, Ecuador; a non-experimental study was carried out with quantitative research using the empirical research method that is based on observation through surveys. As results, it was obtained that in the households surveyed from 27 in the case of women and 28 for men, it is the age at which emigration occurs most frequently; in the case of the emigrants surveyed, 71.6% are in the age range of 28-65 years old, the bulk of emigrants had a level of secondary or completed secondary education when they left, being 47% of the 320 registered, 67.8% were working but have seen the need to emigrate due to disagreement in their salaries or dissatisfied with work activity. Therefore, it is concluded that the quality of life in the rural sector in Ecuador is quite low. With many material needs that then lead to problems such as health and education, and even sociological problems as they are somehow made invisible when it comes to participating in a social conglomerate such as their own community.
