The participation of university students as agents of quality (Original)

This document describes the theorical and practical results of university students acting as Quality Promoters for processes in the emergency room of the (public) general hospital of Playa del Carmen. Through a documentary and field investigation, including 114 surveys to patients under the program "Aval Ciudadano" (social comptrollership and citizen participation), interviews to the personnel of the area and four visits to the head of department. The suggestions box is also reviewed and a balance is made of all the above mentioned instruments. As a result, improvement proposals are handed over, that are focused on real needs. After the implementation of one of those proposals, we can see that it is also implemented in another area, which witnesses the acceptance of the suggestion by the hospital management as an improvement tool. The data that was found suggest keeping on working in the area.
