Peer tutoring experience in the Bachelor's Degree in Stomatological Services program in Bayamo

Guidance provided to university students contributes to the comprehensive development of the individual on a personal, academic, and professional level, aspects in which tutoring plays a prominent role. With the objective of analyzing, in the Bachelor's Degree in Stomatological Services program, the effects of implementing peer tutoring on the quality of teaching and the reduction of student dropout, as well as the degree of satisfaction of the tutored students, a descriptive, cross-sectional, observational, and exploratory study was conducted, with a mixed-method approach and a pre-experimental design. As a result, the effects on the quality of teaching-learning and the reduction of student dropout were evaluated, as well as the degree of satisfaction of the tutored students. An improvement in the quality of the teaching process was observed following the implementation of the tutoring program, as well as a decrease in the dropout rate; furthermore, it was found that, of the total surveyed students, 89, 28 % felt satisfied with the implemented proposal, demonstrating a positive evaluation of the new work and evaluation system implemented by both teachers and students.
