Characteristics of Manzanillo´s economic development from 1940 to 1950 (Review)

Abstract

Local studies cover a high percent of the national historiographical production. However, these studies have been mostly focused on the political, cultural, and social life and they disregard the economic one. Consequently, the authors of this work direct their attention on this direction. Due to the lack of research on the local economic evolution during the Republic, the descriptive and analytical approach of the present work might prove very useful to students who receive programs related with the Cuban History, taking for granted that this investigation provides the links between the national history and the local one. To elaborate this article, the authors put into practice theoretical methods, specialized bibliographic sources, and documents from the funds of Manzanillo´s Historical Archives. These sources and methods guarantee the authenticity of the results.
