Abstract

The purpose of the research was to support premises for the management of ecotourism in the Guamote canton of Ecuador; it was structured in two stages: in the first, scientific reports were reviewed based on theoretical methods and the theoretical pillars and basic reference models for the premises were systematized; in the second stage, the products of the review were evaluated in an online discussion group, made up of specialists, through the argumentation of criteria and direct voting, and the completion of a form to obtain the key actors and framing of the premises and their viability. Kendall's coefficient of agreement was determined between the specialists' criteria. It was obtained that theoretically three pillars are identified for ecotourism management in the Guamote canton: management, the vegetation resource and its contextualization in the Ecuadorian Andean region, as well as three references for the premises: the management model for the sustainable development of ecotourism, community-based tourism and responsible tourism. The power and influence of the key actors of local ecotourism management in Ecuadorian Andean communities configure premises based on four restrictions: the need to take advantage of the vegetation resource, the consensual determination to carry out the activity, prior training and the condition of a resilient ecosystem. Finally, the premises supported are qualitatively viable from the economic, environmental and sociocultural dimensions based on the statistical agreement between the specialists participating in the discussion group.
