Characterization of HIV/AIDS in the municipality of Jiguaní (Original)

Abstract

The human immunodeficiency virus continues to be reported as one of the biggest health problems worldwide, with active transmission in all countries, which requires its monitoring and permanent control. The article aims to characterize HIV/AIDS in the municipality of Jiguaní, in the period 1986-2022. For this purpose, an analytical observational study of seropositive patients was carried out in this municipality; the STATISTIC version 6.0 program was used for information processing. The results showed that the survival of the patients is increasing and only 1.2% is above 20 years; the average life span is 9.6 years; the case fatality rate is 21.6, with acute respiratory failure being the most frequent cause of death; male dominated and the most affected age was between 40-49 years. People who become infected with the virus are mostly diagnosed around the year after their infection through Primary Health Care, entering the category of caught. The infection in Jiguaní by the virus had an upward trend until 2011, then began to decline to find until the time of the research in relative plateau.
