The research was carried out in the "Colón" community belonging to the mountainous municipality of Guisa, Granma province, with the objective of characterizing the Pinus maestrensis Bisse forest of said community in order to determine its use. For this, the structure and composition of the vegetation was characterized; a simple random inventory was carried out; Interviews were applied and workshops were developed to determine the knowledge of the community about the use of the forest. As a result, the flora associated with the area is represented by 363 individuals of 52 species and 49 genera, belonging to 38 botanical families. The Myrtaceae and Melastomataceae families are reported as the richest in species. In the inventory, Casearia sylvestris (scab) was found, classified by the Cuban Red List as vulnerable; Three species were registered in the threatened category, Cinnamomum montanum, Miconia skeaniana and Miconia elata, while Conostegia icosandra was reported as almost threatened. The Cochran test showed that there are significant differences in the level of knowledge of the community members before and after the workshops. The main uses were medicinal and religious.
