Is it possible for tourism, within a globalized society, to be thought as work? Can the tourism, fueled by large semiotizing machines, the social emancipation of the worker? These are guiding questions of the reflections embedded in this paper. With the objective of elaborating notes for a critical perspective of tourism, the construction of this paper includes field work, orientations and reflections on the religious tourism of Trindade-GO. They were also held with open dialogues with the members of REESCRITA - Rede crítica de Turismo (Critical Network of tourism). The theoretical basis of the work was instituted through this presupposition: the connection and the extent of tourism leads us to consider that, in their differences and multiplicity. Such a phenomenon presents itself as a legacy to interpret the contradictions of contemporary capitalism. This consideration challenges us to ascertain the scale of the periphery of capitalism linked to the geopolitical scale.
