Abstract

The aim of this article is to understand the importance of the Center for the Training of Professionals of Education and Assistance to Persons with Deafness (CAS), in the formation of the deaf subject in Goiás / Brazil. This educational institution is within the scope of the policies of inclusive education developed in the country and since 2005 has been promoting interventions through the provision of training courses for the deaf community in general. Follower of the principles of Bilingual Education, it guides its pedagogical action in the teaching of the Pounds as the first language and Portuguese Written as second language. The choice of this institution is justified by the fact that it is a reference in the training of professionals of bilingual education in the State of Goiás. In order to develop the research, bibliographical review, documentary analysis and interviewing were used as methodology, which contributed to the results obtained. In summary, it was verified that after the recognition of sign language in Brazil in 2002, the Brazilian education system was instrumental, albeit precariously, for the qualification of professionals in Pounds. With this, the CAS was structured for the Specialized Educational Attendance, however, also has been contributing substantially in the training of teachers, with emphasis on the formation of future bilingual education teachers.
