Abstract

This study examines group cohesion—a topic of great relevance in research on collective sports. The objective was to assess the characteristics of group cohesion within the national women's football team of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The study adopts a descriptive design based on a qualitative research methodology. Intentional sampling was employed, involving 13 athletes who comprise the team. The following analytical methods were used: synthesis-deductive approaches, a semi-structured interview, a group cohesion assessment tool, and the group integration test. As mathematical statistical methods, percentage and arithmetic mean were utilized. The findings indicate that group cohesion is characterized by high levels of group integration, which contributes to strengthening the team's cohesive unity.
