Swimming and the treatment of injuries
Keywords:
Swimming, injuries, and treatmentAbstract
Swimming is universally recognized as a low-impact sport, ideal for rehabilitation and for people of all ages. However, its repetitive nature makes it an activity with a specific injury profile, predominantly due to overuse. Despite being a low-impact sport, swimming carries a significant risk of injury, with the shoulder being the most vulnerable area. The key to treating and managing injuries lies not in swimming better, but in a comprehensive approach that combines refined technique, complementary strength and flexibility training, and intelligent training volume planning. This is fundamental to ensuring the longevity and performance of any elite swimmer, maximizing their athletic career. Injury prevention is directly proportional to athletic success.
