Cuban economy and society until the XIX century, a didactic and historiographycal challenge

Abstract

The present article is aimed at reflecting concretely, how the interpretation of results of the Cuban economy and society until the XIX century have not embraced the whole country, even when several researches have been applied with a high scientific level; these studies were addressed to certain regions. Taking these contents to teaching nowadays constitutes a didactic and historiographical challenge, since the classic works dealing with the colonial period were permeated by the positivist current; reasserting the numeric data, facts and historical documents; assuming regularities in occasions that are distinctive of other regions, mainly from the central and western part of the country; obviating key aspects of the social history and from the east part. In this region, there are still gaps and fields to research.
