Literacy campaign in Cuba. Remembrances from Yara (Revisión).

Abstract

In this article, an evaluative account of the literacy process and what was experienced in the town of Yara is carried out, demonstrating the central conception of literacy as a task of the people, where the people should teach the people. These revolutionary objectives with which the Campaign was oriented and planned also determined a revolutionary didactic approach. From these objectives, the contents, methods, means, forms of organization of the pedagogical process, and its evaluation were specified. It constitutes a material to rethink Cuban education, its present and future practices.
