José Martí, the Workers and the Independence of Cuba (Essay)
Keywords:
work; workers; laborers; contribution; independenceAbstract
The article addresses a little-known or revealed aspect of Marti’s thought. It is about their conceptions about work, their identification with the workers and the workers contribution to the cause of national emancipation. The purpose of this work is to offer a small contribution of an expository nature that serves as a basis for more in-depth studies on the subject, taking as a reference the studies carried out by the Cuban researcher and historian José Cantón Navarro (1925 -2008), who exposes in his works extensive elements on the subject. The importance lies in the need to make available to those interested the opinions of José Martí on work, that their identification with the workers and their close ties with them is known, as well as the contribution that the workers made to the struggles for the independence in the 19th century.
