The purpose of this article is to make reflections on aspects related to funeral rituals in the context of the current pandemic Covid 19,thus this global situation has transformed some of the ritual practices associated with death, so important in the different cultures and useful in the grieving processes of the families of the deceased. The question that arises then is: How has the pandemic permeated the rituals of death in Colombia and the world? Then, first are presented some generalities and postulates about the rituals and after are exposed several of the practices that have been affected by the pandemic and its consequences on social and cultural life. It is also debated about pain, as an active component of our life. The ways in which modern societies process or avoid it and the ability of language to heal.
