The Management of the Investigation Process in Universities. (Review)

University has undergone an evolution in its purposes that has displaced it from its ivory tower and has led it to undertake missions from the preservation and dissemination of knowledge to research and connection with the environment, making them increasingly committed with achieving development and social progress. Through their three missions (teaching, research and interaction with surrounding society), contemporary university organized to achieve university-environment linkages that satisfies the needs and expectations with a high added value. The purpose of this review article is to carry out a bibliographic study related to the research core process in universities based on its conceptual and operational definitions. For this, different techniques and tools are used of a bibliometric analysis. The information collected is filtered through several analyzes complemented by authors' conclusions and perceptions. In this paper we therefore ask and try to answer the following questions: What is understood by research process? What does managing research core process entail? What indicators are used to measure the research core process in universities? A study of the research´s role in the development of the university as a social institution is carried out, highlighting elements of its emergence, main management approaches, core processes and evolution, as well as a detailed analysis of the management of the research core process from theoretical references.
