Abstract

A quasi-experimental intervention study was carried out in the consultation of the allergy service of the Gustavo Aldereguía Lima Polyclinic of the Las Tunas municipality, in the period from September 2019 to March 2021 with the aim of evaluate the efficacy of bacterial immunotherapy in the treatment of the atopic patient with recurrent infections in routine clinical practice. The sample consisted of 114 patients between the ages of 5 and 59 years. The patients underwent allergen-specific bacterial therapy and were followed for one year. The level of disease control was established at the start of treatment and at each follow-up visit as a measure of efficacy, and the main associated adverse effects were described. In the study, patients between 10-19 years predominated for 30,70%. 43,86% of the patients studied had a history of bronchial asthma, this being the most reported entity in our research followed in order of prevalence allergic rhinitis with 39 cases. The most common recurrent infection was pharyngotonsillitis with 53, 5% and the most frequent germ isolated was streptococcus for 40,3%. The results obtained allow us to affirm that specific bacterial immunotherapy has a good efficacy and safety profile, reaching 25, 87 in the last determinations and only 11, 4% presented mild local adverse reactions.
