Towards a significance of the teaching of the content related to the biodiversity concept in the teaching of Biology (review)

Abstract

The article has as its main purpose to analyze the treatment related to the biodiversity concept in the Biology books from Junior and Senior educations in Cuba, spanning from 1989 and 2012 periods of time. Theoretical level methods were applied, such as analytical – synthetic, inductive – deductive and the system approach; in the same way that the empirical level, the documental analysis to appraise the information gotten from the consulted bibliography, opinions given by the professionals and the authors recorded experiences in the teaching-learning process performance. Finally, priorities are proposed as the answers to the fulfilled valuations that can be considered to accomplish the holistic comprehension of the biodiversity meaning, such as the sequence of a more active – productive and creative knowleadge that may favor the relationship between the scientific events and the Biology teaching and learning so as to understand the biological world in a contextualized way.
